Implementing a Workshop—a temporary group of interested parties—that will lead to a CEN and CENELEC Workshop Agreement (CWA) on 'Data-driven management of production processes' is the BIOMAT Project's next disruptive initiative.
Coordinated by ITG (Galicia Institute of Technology) and managed by UNE (Spanish Association for Standardization), both Project's partners, this initiative kick-off meeting will occur on April 11th and is open to external participants. During this first meeting, the participants will be able to elect the Workshop Chair and also discuss the CWA Project Plan and Draft.
The elected body will, afterwards, work on the development of a new CEN and CENELEC Workshop Agreement (CWA) that will help manufacturers, engineering companies, etc., use the data gathered in industrial production processes to monitor and control them and support decisions on adjustments and improvements.
This methodology's objectives include developing structured data documentation related to observed parameters, materials, and the physical infrastructure equipment used in processes and data acquisition. This facilitates collecting measured data and data analysis for extracting insights through charts or dashboards. It will also comprise simulation capabilities, enabling the execution of models to anticipate outcomes before production initiation.
The methodology should be integrated into an information system that offers the capabilities mentioned above and may also work as a communication tool, fostering collaboration between stakeholders, such as producers and customers.
The outgoing CWA - a document published by European Standardization Organizations CEN and CENELEC - is intended to be published before October 2024 and responds to the goal of incorporating innovative knowledge that needs to be quickly introduced in the market.
This link with standardisation supports the transfer and exploitation of the R&I project results, reaching a more substantial impact on Industry, Policy Makers, and Society, in line with the EU Guiding Principles on Knowledge Valorisation and the Code of Practice on Standardisation in the European Research Area.
The online kick-off meeting will take place on April 11th. The initiative is open to comments, and requests to participate in the Workshop should be submitted by March 30th.
